Best Ramesseum, Valley of Queens & Deir El Medina Tour with Egypt Joy Travel

We will pick you up from the Nile cruise or from your hotel in Luxor with your Egyptologist tour guide to enjoy a splendid journey around the vast area of the West Bank of Luxor and discover the massive Ramesseum Temple, the famous Valley of the Queens & the magnificent workers' city and tombs in Deir el Madina.

Ramesseum Temple
This temple is a fine example of the greatness of the ancient Egyptian architecture. It belongs to King Ramesses II, who ruled Egypt for more than 67 years, as one of the longest reigns in ancient Egypt. The Ramesseum Temple was built to be a mortuary and memorial temple for King Ramses II, and it contains a broken statue for him, which, if it were still intact, would be the biggest statue in the world.
The walls of this temple are decorated by the scenes of the famous Kadesh Battle, which was led by Ramesses II against the Hittites in Minor Asia, and so many other scenes for the king presenting offerings to the different gods of the ancient Egyptians.

The outstanding mud-brick vaults and rooms were used as storerooms in which raw materials and perishable foodstuffs such as corn, wine, oils, honey, and incense were stored. Ramesseum has inspired many artists and painters, such as D. Roberts and later William H. Bartlett. It also inspired poets like Percy Bysshe Shelley in his poem Ozymandias of Egypt.

Valley of Queens:

The Valley of Queens is situated at the southern end of West Luxor hillside. It contains 75 tombs belonging to the wives of the kings of the 19th and the 20th dynasties, in addition to some members of the royal families. Now inside the Valley of Queens there are four tombs open for visiting; the most preserved of these is the Tomb of Nefertari, the favorite wife of King Ramses II, which was restored and reopened for public in 2016. The other three tombs are
* The tomb of Amunherkhepshef, the son of King Ramesses III.
* The tomb of Khemwaset; he was also the son of King Ramesses III and died very young.
* The tomb of Queen Titi; she was the royal wife of Ramesses III.

Deir el Medina:

It's the ancient village of the workers who achieved the tombs of the valley of the kings; it's considered the oldest settlement in the history of mankind. The community contained about 70 houses with a narrow road running in the middle of the village. Among the inhabitants of this village were the stone cutters, carpenters, painters, draughtsmen, law representatives, and policemen.

Next to the houses of the workers, a beautiful temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and goddess Ma'at. The workers cut their tombs in the hill beside which surrounded their village. There are two tombs open for the public.

Your visit to Deir El Medina ends your tour, and you will be taken back to your hotel or anywhere else in Luxor as you like.
